- Nintendo Switch OLED, £309.99, Amazon – pre-order here
The original Nintendo Switch launched back in 2017, to phenomenal success.
Gamers were enamoured with the two-in-one console that worked as a handheld device – and plugged into the telly too.
The console is regularly sold out around Christmas, and is now one of the most recognisable gaming machines in the world.
And now we have the Nintendo Switch OLED Model to look forward to.
It's a pricier and more powerful version of the Nintendo Switch, and it looks the part too.
Read on to find out more about where to buy and pre-order the Nintendo Switch.
And for the best offers on the older version of the console, head to our pick of the best Nintendo Switch deals this month.
Where to pre-order the Nintendo Switch OLED
The Nintendo Switch OLED is already available to pre-order, with prices the same across the board.
It's not long now until it properly launches, but there's no harm in order yours in advance – indeed, given the increasing supply issues, it's probably asmart idea.
Where to pre-order in the UK
We're seeing wavering levels of availability for the Nintendo Switch OLED across all the major UK retailers.
Here's where it's currently available to pre-order for £309.99:
- Amazon – pre-order here
- Argos – pre-order here
- Currys PC World – pre-order here (currently out stock)
- GAME – pre-order here
- Smyths Toys – pre-order here
- Very – pre-order here (currently out of stock)
Where to pre-order in the US
In the U.S. we're seeing less availability for Nintendo Switch OLED pre-orders – fingers crossed that changes when the console finally lands.
You can pre-order it for $349.99.
- Amazon US – pre-order here
- B&H – pre-order here
- BestBuy – pre-order here
- GameStop – pre-order here
- Target – pre-order here
- Walmart – pre-order here
If you do get the opportunity to place an order, we’d recommend doing so as soon as possible.
Recent launches of the PS5 and Xbox Series X have proved that there’s huge demand for games consoles right now.
It’s possible that people who can’t get a Sony or Microsoft console will default to buying the Nintendo Switch OLED this Christmas.
And that’s not even counting the vast number of Nintendo fans who will likely be lining up to place their orders.
Nintendo Switch OLED release date
The new version of the Nintendo Switch is already available to pre-order – but its official release date is Friday October 8.
Once that date comes around, you'll be able to purchase the Nintendo's newest console straight away.
For those gamers out there who have pre-ordered, that's will likely be the earliest dispatch date.
So if you're lucky, you'll get the OLED model by Saturday for a weekend of gaming – and if not, it will almost definitely arrive on Monday or Tuesday.

Nintendo Switch OLED price
The Nintendo Switch OLED costs $349.99 in the US and £309.99 in the UK, although retailer prices may vary.
The older-generation Switch, by contrast, costs around £259.99 across most retailers – the question is: how much cheaper will it get when the OLED version comes out?
What's the difference between the Nintendo Switch and the Switch OLED?
As the name suggests, the chief difference between the two Nintendo models is the OLED screen that's being introduced.
OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology is something you'll mostly find in high-end televisions and flagship smartphones.
Rather than rely on an LCD backlight, these cutting-edge displays each feature pixels of light that are self-illuminating. You can check out our OLED explainer for more.
In the new Switch, this will offer a far superior visual experience for gameplay.
Nintendo Switch OLED specs
The new Nintendo Switch has screen that's larger than its predecessor, measuring 7 inches inches across and with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.
There's also a wired LAN port for much better online play, something that we think is going to bring a huge chance with it.
Plus, the Nintendo Switch OLED offers 64GB of storage: that's double that of the original Switch.
There are all-new white Joy-Con controllers on the way too (for new exclusively available with the new Switch), plus a new kickstand for tabletop gaming.
Will the Nintendo Switch OLED be on sale for Black Friday?
We know plenty of gamers out there would love to see the new Switch include in the late-November sales madness of Black Friday – but being honest, that's unlikely.
However, bargain-hunters can take consolation in the fact that the old Switch will likely see its price reduced when Black Friday comes around.
And if not, we'll almost definitely see bundle prices on the non-OLED Switch and games brought down in cost.
