A new tool enables people to look through the keyhole of the most expensive properties in their area using the Lustworthy Listings Explorer. The tool updates in real time so users can explore the most extravagant homes in any town, city or postcode, and how much it costs in monthly mortgage repayments and financial deposits.
It comes as an accompanying study of more than 2,000 people found that 57 percent of Brits spend their free time browsing sites like Zoopla and Rightmove, with 82 percent admitted searching for expensive homes as escapism and one in three said they would like to see what they could buy if they won the lottery.
Over the last 12-months, bored Brits said they spent up to 75 minutes every week lusting over property listings, and watching shows like Location, Location, Location more than 10 times in a month.
More than a quarter said they use social media sites like Instagram to seek out aspirational interior design trends, with homeware, bedroom design and colour themes ranked as the top three areas inspired by the site.
Two-fifths of Brits also said they would move across the UK if it meant being able to afford their ‘perfect home’.
But, realistically, almost a quarter said they were unsure if they would be able to afford it, and more than a fifth feel as though the career opportunities in their current location are more substantial than if they were to move.

James Andrews, senior personal finance editor at money.co.uk, which is hosting the Lustworthy Listings Explorer, said: “Our Lustworthy Listings Explorer has been created in order to help users gain a fascinating insight into how the other half live.
“The explorer reveals how much some of the most stunning homes for sale in the UK would cost in terms of minimum deposits and monthly repayments.
“It also shines a light on the varying asking prices of expensive estates across different regions, cities and postcodes of the UK.”
